THE Penang Down Syndrome Association (PDSA) has received a RM10,000 donation again from Globetronics Sdn Bhd under the charity segment of Penang Starwalk.

The company, which sent representatives to the event’s 1km charity walk on Sunday, handed over the contribution to the association at its factory in Bayan Lepas on Wednesday.

Globetronics had also donated RM10,000 to the association at the Penang Starwalk 2011. It gave a similar amount to the Shan Children’s Home for the charity walk last year.

PDSA past president Sharifah Daud said the association was very grateful for the donation from Globetronics.

“I am really happy for its continuous support. We have 40 people with Down Syndrome in our association, thus the money will help us a lot,” she said.

Globetronics human resource manager Ng Kok Choong said the association was started by people who had children or adults with Down Syndrome in their family.

“We wanted to be a part of this big family and show our support for them,” he said.

Ng also said the company would continue to contribute to such charitable events after having participated in the Penang Starwalk’s charity walk for three years.

“Starwalk is a good event for all. Through this event, we get to know the uniqueness of our state,” he added.

Globetronics was among nine companies which gave RM10,000 to a charity each under the charity walk event of Penang Starwalk 2013. A businessman also gave a similar amount to a charity.
